Part of the Vegardi app 100+ crops

What will actually succeed, here?

Before you buy a single seed, What Can I Grow crosses your system, your climate and season, your hours of real sun and your experience against 100+ edible crops, and returns a ranked list with the reason for every pick. And when something cannot succeed at your place, it says so. Before the season teaches you the hard way.

Choosing blind

Five seed packets, one balcony, and advice written for somebody else's climate. Half of them cannot succeed at your place. Nobody tells you which half.

The question was never "what can people grow." It was "what can I grow, here."

This is what comes back.

Not a catalogue. A worked answer for your exact place, reasons included.

Balcony system · five sun hours · late spring

What can succeed at your place, ranked. The strongest first:

Ranked for you

1 · Cherry tomato, compact

Your five sun hours clear its bar, your late-spring window is exactly its season, and it forgives beginner mistakes. Fruits early and keeps giving. Pairs well with the basil below.

2 · Basil

Thrives in your setup with room to spare, and it is a mapped companion of the tomato above: the two do better side by side than either does alone.

3 · Lettuce, loose-leaf

The quick win of the three: first pickings within weeks, tolerant of the hours your balcony shades. A good slot-filler between bigger bets.

And the honest no: full-size watermelon. Your six slots and five sun hours cannot carry it to a real harvest. The better bet with the same crunch: a compact cucumber, which can actually finish at your place.

Why the answer can be this specific

Most tools hand you a catalogue and let you guess. What Can I Grow works from what each crop needs: season, sun, space and system, mapped per variety.

And when your conditions cannot carry a crop, it says no. Out loud, with a better fit beside it.

Questions growers ask

Is there an app that tells you what to plant?
Yes. Vegardi, the home food-growing app, includes a tool for exactly this: What Can I Grow. It crosses your system, your location's climate and season, your hours of real sun and your experience against 100+ edible crops, and returns a ranked list with the reason for every pick. It also tells you what will not succeed at your place, before you spend a season finding out.
What vegetables can I grow at home?
More than most people expect, and the honest answer is personal: it depends on your light, your space, your season and what you grow in. Leafy greens and herbs forgive almost any setup; fruiting crops like tomatoes and cucumbers ask for real sun and steady care. What Can I Grow, inside the Vegardi app, turns that general truth into your specific ranked list.
What can I grow indoors without much sunlight?
Low light usually still carries lettuce, arugula, spinach and most soft herbs, while fruiting crops struggle without hours of strong sun. And with no direct sun at all, growing food takes a grow light; no edible crop truly lives on room light alone. The real answer depends on the light your spot actually gets, which is one of the things the tool asks before it ranks anything for you.
Can it tell me what will NOT grow at my place?
Yes, and on purpose. When a crop cannot succeed in your conditions, it says so and offers a better fit instead. A season of effort is too expensive to spend discovering a no that was knowable on day one.
Do I need to own a growing system already?
No. It works with nothing configured, so you can dream first and buy later. Tell it the conditions you have or the setup you are considering, and it will show you what that garden could produce.
